DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's swimming and diving team opened up their season on Friday night with a meet against Heidelberg at the Meek Center. The Battling Bishops would come away with a 127-42 win over the Student Princes to start the season 1-0.
INDIVIDUALS
John Wion started his OWU career with wins in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke, posting times of 22.07 and 55.30.
Eric Sander took first in both of his first two collegiate events, winning the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.80 and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.60.
Collin Barth finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle and second in the 100 yard backstroke with times of 11:26.84 and 1:13.39.
Ian Sander took first in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:02.41 and second in the 100 yard backstroke at 1:01.37.
Nathan Ambler recorded a first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.29, accompanied by a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle at 1:54.86.
Evan Lucas secured second in both the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard butterfly with times of 1:54.45 and 54.81.
Tomoki Nishigori took second place in both of his first two OWU events, finishing the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.94 and the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.73.
Henry Gaudet turned in a second place finish in the 50 yard freestyle at 22.84 and a third place finish in the 100 yard butterfly at 57.64.
Lucas Lau finished second in the 500 yard freestyle at 6:02.06, fifth in the 50 yard freestyle at 25.30, and sixth in the 100 yard butterfly at 1:07.51.
RELAYS
Eric Sander,
Ian Sander,
Collin Barth, and
Evan Lucas posted a time of 1:43.31 in the 200 yard medley relay.
Tomoki Nishigori,
Henry Gaudet,
John Wion, and
Nathan Ambler turned in a winning time of 3:21.48 in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
