Bishops Grab Third Conference Victory Against Wooster

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University volleyball team hosted Wooster for an NCAC matchup. The Batting Bishops cruised past the Fighting Scots, taking the match in straight sets for the fourth time this season. 

OWU advances to 10-12 on the year, and improves to 3-1 in NCAC competition. Wooster falls to 5-16, and 1-3 in conference.

Set one was dominated by the Bishops from the start, as the squad got out to an early 6-1 lead and never looked back, taking a commanding 25-16 victory. The theme of control remained true throughout set two, as a 12-4 run powered the Red and Black to a 25-12 set two victory. OWU sealed the match with another dominant set, taking it 24-14 to claim the victory.

THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan recorded 42 kills, with Mason Campbell, Natalie Dieball, Jordanne Shannon all recording a team-leading nine.  

The Bishops accounted for 10 service aces, led by Lily Bechina with four, followed by Mason Campbell and Abby Nulph with two apiece. 

The Red and Black made four blocks. Reagan Brake tallied a team-high three block assists, and Shannon tacked on two block assists. 

Lily Bechina was the leading setter with 32 of the team's 41 assists.

The Battling Bishops totaled 39 digs, led by Bella Guzetta with nine, followed closely by Campbell with eight, and Bechina with six.

The Bishops continue NCAC play Saturday at 1 p.m. against Wittenberg inside Branch Rickey Arena.
