ADRIAN, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's tennis team finished off their fall schedule on the road at Adrian on Sunday, falling just short in a 3-4 match.
DOUBLES
The Battling Bishops slipped to a 1-0 deficit following doubles as they were swept 3-0.
Ian Tsai and
Marcus Bode nearly came away with a win in match two, going to a tiebreaker but falling 6-7 (3-7).
Kobe Francis and
Jared Crawford suffered a 6-1 losing result in match three, with
Gabe Fogle and
Rainer Holl suffering a 6-0 shutout in match one.
SINGLES
The Red and Black rebounded a bit in singles, with
Rainer Holl,
Kobe Francis, and
Gabe Fogle taking three of the six matches, leaving the Bishops just short of a win with a 3-4 final scoreline.
Holl, Francis, and Fogle all took their matches in two sets. Holl's was a 6-1, 6-4 win in match four. Fogle followed suit with a 6-3, 6-3 win in match two. Finally, Francis secured a 6-4, 6-4 win in match three.
Zach Heister and
Marcus Bode both came close to flipping the match and securing that key fourth win in singles as they both took their matches to three sets. Unfortunately, both would fall short. Heister dealt with tiebreakers in the first two sets of match five before ultimately falling 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 2-6. Bode also took the first set before falling 6-4, 3-6, 2-6 in match six. Finally, Ian Tsia lost match one in two sets, 3-6, 2-6.
