DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's tennis opened up their spring season with their first match in the newly-renovated Gordon Field House, hosting 13th-ranked Kenyon. Unfortunately, the Owls would end up getting the best of the Battling Bishops, taking a 7-0 sweep.
OWU loses their first match of the season, now 2-2 and starting off 0-1 in NCAC play. Kenyon stays undefeated at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The Bishops put up a good fight in the doubles matches but would unfortunately fall in all three matches, surrendering the lone point available for doubles. The pair of
Kobe Francis and
Ian Tsai came the closest in match two at 6-4. The duo of
Gabe Fogle and
Rainer Holl along with the duo of
Marcus Bode and
Jared Crawford fell 6-2 in matches one and three.
The singles matches went similarly with Kenyon taking all six and the six remaining points. Tsai challenged in the first set but conceded 6-3, 6-0 in match one. Likewise, Holl recorded a couple of wins in set one but suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss in match three. Francis and Bode both ended on the wrong side of 6-1, 6-0 results in matches four and five. Fogel fell inversely at 6-0, 6-1 in match two.
Zach Heister suffered a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in match six.

The Battling Bishops will take a trip down to Cincinnati on Friday to play Maryville. That match is set to get going at 4 p.m.
