ADRIAN, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's tennis team finished off their fall schedule on the road at Adrian on Saturday. The Battling Bishops trailed 1-0 following doubles but surged ahead with four wins in singles to secure a 4-3 win.
DOUBLES
The Bishops fell behind in doubles to start the day, winning just one of the three matches and surrendering the lone point to face a 1-0 deficit entering singles.
Evaleigh Garnett and
Daniela Guzman accounted for the only doubles win for OWU, winning 6-1 in match three.
The duos of
Mallory Hannan and
Lily Hershey, and
Frankie Nuss and
Emma Pzedpelski both suffered 2-6 losses in matches one and two.
SINGLES
The Red and Black bounced back big time with four wins in singles to surge ahead and take the match overall, 4-3.
Frankie Nuss,
Emma Pzedpelski,
Evaleigh Garnett, and
Daniela Guzman accounted for the four wins to lead the Bishops to victory.
Guzman led the way with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 win in match five. Pzedpelski was just behind with a 6-0, 6-3 win in match three. Garnett garnered a 6-1, 6-3 win in match four. Finally, Nuss took match two via an opponent retirement.
Mallory Hannan and
Riley Brokaw were the two who came up short. Hannan was on the losing side of a 5-7, 4-6 result in match one while Brokaw forced three sets in match six but lost 4-6, 7-5, 7-10.
