Bishops’ Slow Second Half Start Leads to Loss at No. 21/18 Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's basketball team took on Calvin – ranked 21st nationally in the WBCA coaches poll and 18th nationally in the D3hoops.com poll – on Friday night, part of their two-day trip to Michigan for the Calvin/Hope Classic. The Bishops offense struggled to get going in both halves but especially to start the second half, leading to a 70-45 loss.

OWU drops even at 1-1. Calvin picks up their first win, now 1-2.

The Battling Bishops started off a little slow, only able to convert for eight points in the first quarter as Calvin took a 14-8 lead. The Red and Black bounced back a bit in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 18-15 in the second quarter to face just a three-point deficit at the half, 29-26.

Unfortunately, Ohio Wesleyan offense would stutter again to start the second half, only scoring five in comparison to Calvin's 25. The Bishops could never quite recover putting up 14 in the fourth quarter but giving up 16, leading to a 70-45 final score.
