Bishops Outlast RV/No. 23 Hope, 65-62

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's basketball team face Hope – a team receiving votes in the WBCA coaches poll and ranked 23rd in the D3hoops.com poll – on Saturday afternoon as they wrapped up their two-day trip to Michigan for the Calvin/Hope Classic. The Battling Bishops played steady throughout, pulling ahead in the fourth quarter and outlasting the Flying Dutch 65-62.

OWU advances to 2-1 on the new season, handing Hope their first loss, now 3-1.

The Red and Black got off to a great start by building a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes, keeping that advantage around the seven to nine mark for the majority of the quarter. However, Hope would pull back within one possession by the quarter's end at 19-16. The Bishops' shooting numbers slumped a bit in the second quarter as they were outscored 17-13, giving Hope a halftime advantage of 33-32.

Macy Miller led the efforts as Ohio Wesleyan stayed with the Dutch throughout the third quarter to make it a two point game entering the final 10 minutes. OWU would finally pull back ahead about halfway through the fourth quarter, ultimately growing their late lead to eight at its largest. This was enough for the Battling Bishops to withstand a late push by Hope and walk away with a 65-62 win.
