DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's basketball hosted 12th-ranked Calvin on Saturday night at Branch Rickey Arena, putting up a tough fight but ultimately falling 64-46.
OWU moves to 1-1 while Calvin picks up their first win, also at 1-1.
The game started out with a back-and-forth battle as the Bishops kept close to the Knights. At the 12:56 mark in the first half, the two sides were separated by just one point, 12-11. By the halftime break, Calvin had increased their lead to a meager five points, controlling a 31-26 advantage on the scoreboard.
The Red and Black kept up the fight in the early going of the second half as they got back within one, but eventually Calvin started to creep away, eventually ending the game ahead 64-46.
THE NUMBERS
Jessee Battle scored 13 points with three three-pointers, three steals, and four rebounds.
Jake Lowman also scored 13 points and had three rebounds.
Peyton Frey had scored 12 points with six rebounds.
Isaac Ward scored three points, adding two steals and six rebounds.
Quinn Hart had one steal and one rebound.
James McCarthy scored five points, and had two assists, one steal, and one rebound.
Anthony Mordini had two steals, one block, and one rebound.
Cal Klinzing had three rebounds, one assist, and one block.
