Junior wing Jessee Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) knocked down a 3-pointer to put Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay, and the Bishops went on a 13-0 run that opened up a double-digit lead on the way to a North Coast Atlantic Conference win over Hiram on Wednesday in Hiram.

Hiram's Brock Makrancy started the game hot, connecting from downtown 3 times in helping the hosts to a 9-2 lead, but Ohio Wesleyan evened the game at 11 on 3-pointers by Battle, fifth-year post Tony Carter (Cleveland/Parma Heights Holy Name), and junior guard Isaac Ward (Circleville/Logan Elm), and Battle followed with a lay-in gave the Bishops a 13-11 lead.

Each team would hold a 2-possession lead during the remainder of the half, which ended with the Bishops up, 42-41.

Makrancy opened the second half with a jumper for a 43-42 Hiram lead, but Battle answered with a 3-pointer to put the Bishops ahead to stay.

A Josh Martin 3-pointer brought the Terriers within 56-53 with 14:14 left in regulation time, when freshman wing Jake Lowman (Delaware/Hayes) sank a pair of free throws to kick off the 13-0 Ohio Wesleyan run.  Junior wing Quinn Corna (Columbus/Upper Arlington) followed with a lay-in, senior guard Henry Hinkle (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) converted a 3-point play, senior wing David Rice (Cleveland/Parma Padua Franciscan) threw down a dunk, Corna added another lay-in, and Ward scored on a fast-break lay-in to make it 69-53 midway through the half, and the lead would remain in double figures the rest of the way.

Hinkle led the Bishops with 21 points.  Ward scored 15, Battle finished with 14, Lowman tallied 10, and Carter had 10 points and a team-high 6 rebounds.  Senior post Phil Wallace (Akron/Norton) recorded a team-best 4 assists.
