Ohio Wesleyan senior Josh Hurst (Port Clinton) was one of a record-setting 197 players nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, it was announced today by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association.

The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team honors college football players at all levels of the sport for their selfless acts of giving back to the community and off-the-field achievements.  The 2025 Good Works Team will be comprised of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III, and the NAIA, and an honorary head coach.  The final roster of 23 award recipients will be unveiled in September.

Hurst, a wide receiver, is a 2-time, second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection.  Last year, he played in only the first 2 games of the season, averaging 7.0 receptions and 84.0 receiving yards per game, before suffering a season-ending injury.

Hurst led the NCAC in receptions (75) and ranked third in receiving yards (810) and receiving yards/game (81.0) in 2023, and was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2022.  Off the field, Hurst is involved with the Second-and-7 literacy program and hosts his own local skills camp for high school and youth athletes in Port Clinton, Ohio.

Ohio Wesleyan opens its season on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Bishops visit Otterbein in Westerville, Ohio.
