ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey team traveled to New York for opening weekend on Saturday, facing off with the 25th-ranked team in the country, Rochester.
The Battling Bishops would struggle to get the offense going, having to wait until the fourth quarter to even get a shot off. On the other hand, the Red and Black's defense was resilient, holding Rochester to just one goal.
Rochester would score the only goal of the game in the second quarter, making the final scoreline 0-1.
The Bishops start the season 0-1. Rochester moves to 1-0.
THE NUMBERS
OWU was held to just three shots, two of which were on target.
Alyssa Markell was responsible for both shots on goal.
Avery Slucher recorded the only other shot for the Red and Black.
Payton Mindel (0-1) got the start in goal, playing the full 60 minutes and making three saves.
