Macy Miller became the 20th player in OWU women's basketball history to surpass 1000 career points, now standing at 1005.
With the win streak now at an even dozen, the Battling Bishops sit 13-1 on the season and 4-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Kenyon falls to 5-10 on the year and 0-4 in the NCAC.
Kenyon got on top in the early going, taking a 9-4 lead to the midpoint of the first quarter. This was soon silenced by 15-2 run by the Red and Black that led to OWU taking a 19-13 advantage into the first break. The post duo of
Macy Miller and
Alyssa Griner were the catalysts for the Ohio Wesleyan offense with four points each during the nearly five-minute scoring streak.
The second quarter was a bit more back-and-forth with the Battling Bishops taking five points onto their lead by outscoring the Owls 22-15. Griner added eight to bring her first half total to 12 as the teams headed in for the halftime break, the Bishops ahead 41-30.
It was smooth sailing in the second half as OWU stretched their lead to 16 at 58-42 in the third quarter before pouring it on in the fourth quarter, outpacing Kenyon 25-13 for an 83-55 final result. Ohio Wesleyan shot 57.9% (11-for-19) from the field in the final 10 minutes, their best single-period percentage of the evening.
THE NUMBERS
Macy Miller became the 20th player in Ohio Wesleyan women's basketball history to surpass 1000 career points, scoring 22 on the night to get to 1005 total. She also pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds with three steals, two assists, and one block.
Alyssa Griner nabbed 14 points and seven rebounds as well as two steals.
Nora Johns netted eight points alongside three rebounds and two assists.
Carly Lehman,
Kendall Dieringer, and
Katie Neuhart each scored six points. Dieringer recorded a team-high five assists as well as three rebounds and one steal. Neuhart tallied three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Lehman managed three assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
Mia Guscoff finished with five points.
Claire Wakim and
Grace Heliger both finished with four points. Wakim also came away with four rebounds and one steal.
Maddie Ebbert tallied three points, four rebounds, and one assist.
Chloe Kelly scored her first career points, nailing her only shot of the game, a three-pointer in the fourth quarter. She also had one rebound.
Camryn Brunner rounded out the offense with two points.
