DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's basketball team returned home to host Kenyon on Wednesday night at Branch Rickey Arena. Despite holding a lead in the first half, the Battling Bishops would fall behind at the break and never quite have enough to pull back ahead, ultimately losing 69-61.
OWU falls to 6-13 on the season, 3-7 in the NCAC. Kenyon advances to 10-9 on the year, 4-6 in conference play.
The Bishops stuck with the Owls early on, trailing by just a few points. The Red and Black sparked a 10-2 run around the halfway point of the first half to get ahead 18-15, but unfortunately this would be their largest lead of the evening.
Ohio Wesleyan kept the slight advantage until the waning minutes of the half, when Kenyon took over again. The Owls ended up outscoring the Bishops 32-28 in the first lead, never surrendering the lead again after a 37-33 second half. The closest the Red and Black would come was four after a couple free throws around the one-minute mark. However, with OWU being forced to foul, Kenyon ran the lead back up to eight before the game's end at 69-61.
