Catanzarite Scores Twice to Lift Bishops Over John Carroll

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-4-5, 3-0-1 NCAC) continued their undefeated streak in the NCAC on Saturday night, defeating John Carroll 2-0 thanks to a pair of goals by Brady Catanzarite. It was OWU's first win over JCU since the 2021 season.

After a quiet first half that saw just three shots per side, Catanzarite broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 59th minute. Kevin Hippolito set it up with a long pass down the left side. Catanzarite caught the ball in stride and took the keeper head on, slotting it past with his left foot for the 1-0 lead.

John Carroll followed with a few balls into the box in the waning moments of the second half, but none caused too much trouble for the Bishops' defense.

In the 87th minute, with the game still teetering on a win or a tie, Catanzarite silenced all doubts, scoring his second and putting the game away at 2-0. Cade Wurstner got the play started with a pass to Carson Cooper on the wing. Cooper then played the ball to Carter Flynn in the box. Flynn then found enough of the ball to flick it on to Catanzarite who hammered it home.
