Women’s Soccer Falls Short to Wooster 2-0

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team (3-5-4, 0-1-0 NCAC) opened conference play against Wooster (6-3-2, 1-0-0 NCAC) on Saturday evening – honoring the 1999 Team of Distinction as part of Alumni & Family Weekend. After a scoreless first half, the Bishops efforts fell short in the second following two scores from the Scots, resulting in 2-0 loss.

The Bishops had their first chance of the game with a shot by Jordan Adams in the 12th minute, but it missed right. OWU followed up with eight more shot attempts in the first half, but failed to get one goal. Wooster was also unsuccessful in the first half, resulting in a tie of 0-0 going into halftime.

The Fighting Scots eventually took a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute with the game's first goal. The Bishops stayed strong offensively, continuing to take their chances, yet doubled their lead with a 80th-minute penalty en route to a 2-0 result.

THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan led in shot attempts at 16-12 and shots on goal at 6-4. Both sides were awarded five corner kicks. Wooster made six saves compared to two for OWU.

Bailey Hawkins had the most attempts with six, putting three on target. Sophia Mominee recorded three shots with one on goal.

Payton Beard (1-3-2) played the full 90 minutes and made two saves.
