Men’s Soccer Drops Final Match to DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team (4-8-5, 3-4-1 NCAC) faced DePauw (12-4-1, 4-3-1 NCAC) for the regular season finale on Saturday evening, hoping to keep their season alive with a win to nab a trip to the NCAC Tournament. Unfortunately, DePauw would be the ones to punch their ticket, scoring in the 73rd minute for a 1-0 result.

Ohio Wesleyan had two shots on goal within the first 15 minutes, but both resulted in saves to keep the contest scoreless. The first was by Jack Jennings in the third minute, with the second coming in the 12th minute by Jordan Domoe.

Brady Catanzarite added another attempt on target in the 25th minute, but again it was saved from the upper left by DePauw's Sam Ortner. Andrew Davison kept the game even with a save in the 14th minute – the only time he was called up in the first half.

Vittorio Renda and Carson Cooper both tried their hand at the bottom right of the goal – Renda's attempt in the 55th minute and Cooper's in the 61st – but both were unsuccessful.

DePauw's Aditya Yogesh broke through for the game's only goal in the 73rd minute to lift the Tigers over the Bishops.

Jennings was able to get a shot off in the 81st minute with hopes to tie, but it sailed over the crossbar to leave the final score at 1-0 in favor of the hosts.

THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan held the edge 11-8 in shots and 5-2 in shots on goal, DePauw just happened to have one go in.

OWU's five shots on goal came from Vittorio Renda, Jack Jennings, Jordan Domoe, Brady Catanzarite, and Carson Cooper.

Andrew Davison (4-4-2) made one save.
