CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's tennis team traveled south to take on Maryville in a neutral-site match at the Western Athletic Club in Cincinnati on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, the Battling Bishops would suffer a 7-0 loss.
OWU drops to 2-3 on the year, remaining 0-1 in the NCAC. Maryville takes their first dual of the year, starting 1-0.
The Bishops grabbed a few games in doubles but would start off 0-1 overall after losing all three matches. The pairs of
Rainer Holl &
Marcus Bode and
Jared Crawford &
Zach Heister both lost 6-3 in matches two and three while
Ian Tsai &
Gabe Fogle lost 6-2 in match one.
The Red and Black came close in a few singles matches but ended up conceding all six along with the team points available, resulting in a 7-0 final score. Tsai suffered a 7-6, 6-0 loss in match one. Fogle found himself on the wrong side of a 6-3, 6-1 result in match two. Holl lost match three 6-4, 7-5. Bode had identical 6-4 sets in his match four loss. Heister was stuck with a 6-3, 6-2 score in match five. Crawford dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision in match six.
