HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's tennis team opened up their spring break trip to Hilton Head on Sunday morning, playing Chowan. The Battling Bishops finished on the wrong side of a 7-0 result.
OWU drops to 2-4 on the year, 0-3 in the spring and 0-1 in conference. Chowan moves to 2-2.
The Bishops started out on the wrong foot with three losses in doubles. The pair of
Marcus Bode and
Kobe Francis along with the pair of
Jared Crawford and
Zach Heister lost 6-1 in matches one and three.
Ian Tsai and
Rainer Holl lost 6-2 in match two.
The rest of the day went similarly for the Red and Black with six losses in doubles. Francis managed to take seven games in match four but came up short, 6-4, 6-3. Bode won five games in match three but ended 6-2, 6-3. Heister nearly forced a tiebreak in match five but fell 6-1, 6-4. Tsai suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss in match one. Holl lost 6-1, 6-0 in match two. Crawford dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match six.
