NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team traveled to play Westminster on Monday night, however the game was unable to be completed due to excessive snow. The game finally finished three days later on Thursday afternoon with the Battling Bishops outscoring the Titans 6-1 after the restart, ending in an 11-6 final.
OWU improves to 2-0 on the season. Westminster starts off 0-1.
The Red and Black struggled to get going in the first quarter on Monday, falling behind 4-1 in the first 15 minutes.
Sam Frary opened the scoring at the 11:43-mark before the Bishops conceded four-straight in the remainder of the period.
Ohio Wesleyan would bounce back in the second quarter and pull back within one before the half. Frary recorded her second of the game with
Tiffany Trinh and
Lila Hall netting the other two to make it 5-4 at halftime. The Red and Black comeback was completed by Hall in the early moments of the third quarter, just before the game was suspended at 5-5 due to excessive snow in the area.
It was all Battling Bishops when the game resumed Thursday, outscoring Westminster 6-1 after the restart. OWU opened up the remainder of the third quarter with back-to-back goals from Hall and
Julia Kingsly. The Titans took one back just before the buzzer to make it 7-6 Bishops entering the final 15 minutes.
Ohio Wesleyan would keep Westminster scoreless in the last period while putting up four scores of their own for a final line of 11-6.
Emma Reynolds joined the party with her first, followed by a second from Trinh and two more from Frary – both shorthanded.
THE NUMBERS
The Bishops outshot the Titans 35-14 total and 20-7 on target.
The Red and Black were active on the defensive end with 16 caused turnovers and 28 ground balls, resulting in a near-perfect 20-for-21 on clears.
Sam Frary tied her career-high of four goals, finishing with five points after adding an assist. She also had three ground balls and one caused turnover.
Lila Hall had career-highs of three goals, four points, and four ground balls alongside an assist and a caused turnover.
Tiffany Trinh tallied two goals, three caused turnovers, three ground balls, and three draw controls.
Emma Reynolds recorded a goal as well as a career-high four ground balls with two caused turnovers.
Julia Kingsly scored a goal and collected one draw control.
Jaelyn Cooper led things on the defensive end with a career-high three caused turnovers and one ground ball. Also making an impact were

Morgan Leeper (2-0) recorded her second win of the season, playing the final 45 minutes and making three saves.
Autumn Reed got the start on Monday, making one save in the first 15 minutes.
