Battling Bishops Take Shootout with Baldwin Wallace, 12-11

BEREA, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team traveled northwest on Saturday for a matinee meeting with Baldwin Wallace. It was a back-and-forth affair through and though, with the Battling Bishops holding the upper hand in the end, 12-11.

The Bishops' record remains unblemished at 4-0. Baldwin Wallace falls to 2-2.

Baldwin Wallace started on top, taking a two-goal lead in the first five minutes. OWU would break back even with back-to-back goals by Sam Frary and Emma Reynolds to make it 2-2 with 6:07 remaining in the first quarter. The Yellow Jackets shot ahead again at the end of the quarter, scoring three-straight to take a 5-2 lead into the first break.

Ohio Wesleyan eventually tied the game back up at the 7:01 mark in the second quarter thanks to a three-goal run from Jules Kyle, Jackie Harper, and Brie Colangelo. Again, BW pulled back ahead with two goals before the half, making it a 7-5 game with 30 minutes to play.

The third quarter was very low-scoring with each side only getting one goal. Reynolds was responsible for the score for the Red and Black, coming off of an assist from Colangelo – her third of the game. This kept the deficit at two-goals entering the final 15 minutes, 8-6 in favor of Baldwin Wallace.

The teams traded two-goal runs to start out the fourth with Tiffany Trinh and Kyle coming thought for OWU. The Battling Bishops finally pushed ahead on a four-goal streak to take a 12-10 lead with 2:20 remaining. Frary, Trinh and Colangelo all tucked in their seconds with Riley Riordan nabbing a spot on the scoresheet. The Yellow Jackets took one back with 1:46 left but it was too-little-too-late as the Bishops walked away with a 12-11 win.
