LEXINGTON, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's tennis team met up with DePauw on Friday night at the Lakewood Racquet Club. The Battling Bishops put a stop to a streak of 17-straight losses to the Tigers with a huge 4-3 win. The Red and Black climb to 11-5 on the season and 3-3 in the NCAC. DePauw slips to 6-12 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Doubles made the difference in the match, going in the way of OWU with a three-match sweep.
Frankie Nuss and
Emma Pzedpelski put up the most dominant victory of doubles at 6-2 in match two.
Mallory Hannan and
Lily Hershey secured a 6-3 win in match one.
Marissa Zaleski and
Daniela Guzman managed a 6-4 winning result in match three.
Singles was split evenly at three matches apiece, making it a 4-3 overall final thanks to the doubles point. Hannan handled match one 6-3, 6-3. Nuss secured a 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 victory in match two. Guzman sealed the deal with a 6-1, 6-3 win in match six. Matches three, four, and five went the other way for Hershey (6-0, 6-0), Pzedpelski (7-6 (7-5), 6-4), and Garnett 6-3, 7-5, 4-6.
