DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan women's lacrosse team braved the elements Saturday for a rain-soaked showdown with Wooster. Regulation wasn't enough to settle the score, as the Bishops and Fighting Scots remained deadlocked at 10-10 after 60 minutes of play. Unfortunately for the Red and Black, Wooster struck 31 seconds into overtime to secure the victory, 11-10.
OWU falls to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in NCAC competition. Wooster continues their impressive season, advancing to 13-1 with a 4-1 mark in conference.

It was a back-and-forth affair early, as the Fighting Scots struck just 43 seconds into the game. The Bishops quickly responded, with
Sam Frary finding the back of the net just 40 seconds later. Wooster reclaimed the lead moments later, putting the pressure back on the Bishops. With 12:08 to play in the first,
Julia Kingsly received a pass from
Tiffany Trinh and converted to knot things at 2-2.
Brie Colangelo put the Bishops on top for the first time all afternoon, firing a strike into the back of the net with 9:48 to play. However, Wooster closed the first quarter with three unanswered goals, surging ahead for a 5-3 lead.
The Fighting Scots carried that momentum into the second quarter, where Lizzie Hardy netted back-to-back goals to stretch the lead to four. The deficit was trimmed to two just moments later, as Frary and
Jules Kyle teamed up for two quick goals to bring the score to 7-5. The two sides exchanged scores just before the intermission, leaving Ohio Wesleyan trailing 8-6 at the break.
After the break, Wooster stretched the lead to three courtesy of a man-up goal. However, the Bishops dominated the remainder of the third.
Lila Hall ignited the comeback efforts with a goal at the 12:35 mark. Almost three minutes later,
Emma Reynolds brought the Bishops within one after finding the back of the net. Colangelo then found Trinh for the game-tying tally, knotting the score at 9-9 heading into the final quarter.
Less than two minutes into the fourth,
Riley Riordan converted to give the Bishops their first advantage since the 9:27 mark in the first. The Ohio Wesleyan defense was suffocating, holding Wooster scoreless for nearly 27 minutes across the third and fourth quarters. However, the Fighting Scots finally broke through with 1:41 remaining to tie the game at 10-10.
In overtime, Wooster found the back of the net to outlast the Bishops, 11-10.
THE NUMBERS
Wooster outshot the Bishops 34-27 overall, but the accuracy was nearly identical, as the Scots led just 18-17 in shots on target. OWU caused 26 turnovers, picked up 26 ground balls, went 21-29 on clears and 7-for-22 on draw controls.
Sam Frary led the Bishops with five points on two goals and three assists.
Brie Colangelo recorded four points, courtesy of one goal and three assists.
Jules Kyle,
Julia Kingsly, and
Tiffany Trinh all finished with two points. Kyle had two goals and grabbed two draw controls. Trinh had one goal, one assist, and picked up two ground balls. Kingsley also tallied one goal and one assist.
Lila Hall,
Emma Reynolds, and
Riley Riordan all scored once, resulting in one point.
Abbie Grogan picked up 11 ground balls, caused nine turnovers, and had four draw controls.
Cadence Jobe got the start in the cage and played the first 5:33, making one save.
Morgan Leeper (L, 7-5) replaced Jobe, finishing the contest and making 13 saves while adding five ground balls.
