EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's cross country team competed at the high-powered Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State on Friday morning, running on the same course where Battling Bishops All-American Quentin Brelsford won the 1946 NCAA championship. The Bishops finished 22nd in the 23-team field that featured the Spartans as well as other Division I programs Butler, Ohio State, Ohio, Southern Indiana, and Eastern Michigan.
Michigan State (15) won the meet, with Butler (64), Ohio State (103), Ohio (119), Southern Indiana (131), and Eastern Michigan (184) filling in the rest of the top six. Ohio Wesleyan scored 620 points.
Jacob Blubaugh,
Tyler Stricker, and
Perry Jackson were the first three across the line for the Bishops. Blubaugh ran a 26:42.1 and finished 91st to score 69 points. Stricker recorded a 28:01.9 in his first collegiate 8K, finishing 183rd and scoring 123 points. Jackson came in 207th with a 28:25.9 to score 133 points.
Caleb Martin and
Cooper Zunt were the other two scores for OWU in their first collegiate 8Ks. Martin turned in a 29:28.3 for 251st place and 147 points. Zunt was three tenths of a second behind at 29:28.6 for 252nd and 148 points.
Haden Kirkham and
Eli Creed were the displacers for the Red and Black. Kirkham ran a 29:52.1 and finished 263rd. Creed ran a 30:09.4 and finished 272nd in his first collegiate 8K.

Ohio Wesleyan will take a few weeks off from meets before returning to host the OWU Invitational on October 2 at Liberty Park.
