Field Hockey Suffers Loss to Rochester

ERIE, Pa. – The Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey team (2-1, 0-0 NCAC) met up with Rochester (2-0, 0-0 LL) for a neutral-site contest on Sunday afternoon. The Battling Bishops were slated with their first loss of the season following a 4-1 result.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Yellow Jackets took a 2-0 in the second period, scoring in the 23rd and 30th minutes to hold the advantage at the half. Rochester tacked on another in the third quarter at the 34th minute. The Bishops finally broke through in the fourth quarter as Morgan Leeper scored unassisted with just under five minutes left. Unfortunately, the goal was canceled out shortly thereafter as Rochester scored again in the 58th minute to end the game at 4-1.

THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan took eight attempts, putting five on target. Rochester took 22 shots, putting 18 on target. OWU was awarded 10 penalty corners as opposed to seven by the Yellow Jackets. The Red and Black recorded 14 saves, five being defensive saves.

Morgan Leeper scored her first goal of the season, taking her points total to three.

Katie Conway and Annabel Fauver each recorded two defensive saves. Grace Ammon had one.

Payton Mindel (2-1) played the full 60 minutes in the goal for the Bishops, making a season-high nine saves.
