James Rosenbury is in his first season as an assistant football coach at Ohio Wesleyan. He coaches the Battling Bishop running backs.
Rosenbury comes to Ohio Wesleyan after coaching at North Coast Athletic Conference rival Kenyon College. He was the Lords' head coach for 3 years, coaching the 2019 and 2021 seasons. In the 2019 season opener, Kenyon recorded a 32-31 double-overtime victory at The Catholic University of America, snapping a 26-game losing streak. The 2021 Lords posted Kenyon's best NCAC finish in nearly a decade.
Prior to Kenyon, Rosenbury coached at Macalester (Minn.) College for 4 seasons, initially serving as running backs and tight ends coach and later becoming the Scots' offensive line coach, special teams coordinator, and director of both football operations and recruiting. Before Macalester, Rosenbury returned to his alma mater, Case Western Reserve University, for 2 seasons, working with offensive backs and special teams and serving as assistant recruiting coordinator. Earlier, he spent 2 years at University of Redlands (Calif.) as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs, who logged a combined 14-5 record and made an appearance in the 2011 NCAA Division III playoffs. Prior to that, Rosenbury was at Grinnell (Iowa) College for one season, coaching running backs and helping the Pioneers post a 4-game improvement over the previous season.
Rosenbury began his coaching career at CWRU, working with offensive backs for 3 seasons and helping the Spartans compile a 31-3 overall record with 3 NCAA Division III playoff appearances. He was part of 3 University Athletic Association (UAA) Coaching Staff of the Year awards.
A 2008 CWRU graduate, Rosenbury majored in sociology. During his Spartan playing career, Rosenbury was a 2-time All-UAA selection, running for more than 1700 yards. He continued his education with a master's degree in higher education from Redlands.
Rosenbury is a native of Draper, Utah.
