Joe Aichele is in his third season as an assistant football coach at Ohio Wesleyan. He coaches the Battling Bishop wide receivers.
He came to Ohio Wesleyan from Lake Erie College, where he spent 2 seasons. He was co-defensive coordinator and football strength coach during the 2018 season after coaching tight ends, running backs, and wings in the spread wing offense during the 2017 season. Prior to rejoining the Lake Erie program, Aichele coached offensive line and served as run game coordinator at Robinson High School and was special teams and offensive coordinator at Crystal River High School in Florida. He coached offensive and defensive lines and special teams and was strength coach for all sports at Crestview High School in Ashland, Ohio, for 2 seasons. Aichele began his coaching career as a student coach at Lake Erie, working with the offensive line and tight ends during the 2011-12 seasons.
Aichele is a 2012 graduate of Lake Erie College, majoring in communications. He played 2 seasons for the Storm before becoming a student coach in January, 2011. He continued his education with a master of education degree from Lake Erie in 2019.
Aichele is a native of Hemlock, Ohio.
