Johnny McCrary is in his second season as an assistant football coach at Ohio Wesleyan. He works with the Battling Bishop running backs.
McCrary comes to Ohio Wesleyan from Alcovy (Ga.) High School, where he was quarterbacks and quality control coach. He made his collegiate coaching debut at Clark Atlanta University, where he was a graduate assistant coach during the 2018 season.
He is a 2016 graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he played football for 2 seasons. McCrary set a school record by completing 84.8 percent of his passes (28 of 33) against Austin Peay. His freshman year, he started the Commodores' final 5 games of the season and tied a school record with 5 touchdown passes against Old Dominion, a performance that earned him Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors. McCrary completed his playing career at Clark Atlanta. In 2016, he threw for 456 yards and 5 TDs against Morehouse, and in 2017, he racked up 371 yards passing against Grambling and tossed 5 TD passes against Albany State.
McCrary is a native of Decatur, Ga.
