Todd Alles returns to the Ohio Wesleyan coaching staff in the spring of 2016, bringing along a wealth of football coaching experience at numerous levels. He will work with the Bishop special teams.
Alles began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at The Ohio State University in 1976-77. That fall, he moved on to Dublin High School (now Coffman), serving as a coach, athletic director and teacher with the Shamrocks from 1977-90. He continued coaching in the high school ranks at Sandusky Perkins (1992-96), while working in education administration positions at Oberlin (1990-92), North Olmsted (1996-2001), and Avon Lake (2001-03).
In 2003, Alles returned to Ohio State, serving as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach and academic adviser for the Buckeyes, a role he expanded to program assistant in recruiting and operations from 2005-07. In January, 2007, he went to the University of Alabama, helping Nick Saban launch his program there. After the 2007 season, Alles returned to Ohio State as a program assistant before taking over as associate director of football operations until his retirement in July 2010.
Alles was a member of Ohio State's 1974 and 1975 Big Ten champion teams, with both teams playing in the Rose Bowl. A 1975 OSU Scholar-Athlete, he earned his bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State in 1977 and a master's degree in education administration in 1989.
Alles is a native of Columbus, a graduate of Marion-Franklin High School, and a veteran of 3 years in the U.S. Navy, serving as a flight engineer and attaining the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He and his wife, Karen, have three grown children, Heather, Todd II and Justin, and five grandchildren: Elena, Ezra, Francesca, Sophia and Austin.
