Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Nate Axelrod (Dublin/Coffman) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 23, it was announced by the NCAC.
Axelrod, a guard on the Ohio Wesleyan men's basketball team, was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Axelrod scored 22 of his season-high 32 points during the first half during a 106-76 win over Oberlin on Wednesday. The win clinched the NCAC championship for Ohio Wesleyan, the Bishops' first conference title since the 1987-88 season and their first outright NCAC crown since the 1986-87 season. Axelrod then collected 16 points and 8 assists as the Bishops wrapped up the regular season with an 86-77 win over DePauw, Ohio Wesleyan's school-record 16th league win of the season. On the week, Axelrod averaged 24.0 points and 8.0 assists per game.
