Ohio Wesleyan University junior Sarah Fowler (Mount Vernon/Fredericktown) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 6, it was announced by the NCAC.
Fowler, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan women's cross country team, was named Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Fowler finished eighth among individuals to lead Ohio Wesleyan at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country championship meet on Saturday. Fowler covered the 6000-meter course in 21:48.50. The eighth-place showing was Ohio Wesleyan's best-ever individual finish at the All-Ohio meet. The Bishops' previous best occurred in 1982, when Carol Corbett finished 13th overall. Fowler finished second among Division III runners and received All-Ohio honors, with her second-place divisional finish the Bishops' best since 1993, when Cindy Geiss was the top finisher in the race's College Division.
