Ohio Wesleyan University junior Devin Van Winkle (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 11, it was announced by the NCAC.
Van Winkle, a first baseman on the Ohio Wesleyan baseball team, was named Baseball Player of the Week.
Van Winkle crushed a 2-run home run that gave Ohio Wesleyan a 7-6 lead, and the Bishops went on to defeat Muskingum in a non-conference game on Wednesday. On Friday, he went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored in an 11-7 win at Case Reserve. Van Winkle then hit a solo homer that tied the game at 2-2, and Ohio Wesleyan went on to a 5-2 win in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader against Case Reserve. He was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored in the game. On the week, he went 6-for-12 (.500) at the plate with 2 home runs, 6 RBI, and 7 runs scored as Ohio Wesleyan won 3 of 4 games.
