Ohio Wesleyan University senior Gary Brodek (Parma/Valley Forge) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 7, it was announced by the NCAC.
Brodek, a defensive end on the Ohio Wesleyan football team, was named Football Defensive Player of the Week.
Brodek led the Bishops with 12 tackles, including 4 sacks for a loss of 31 yards and 5 tackles for loss for a total of 32 yards, and forced a fumble in Ohio Wesleyan's 24-0 win over Allegheny on Saturday. He ended one Allegheny drive with a sack for a loss of 10 yards late in the second quarter, recorded a third-quarter sack for a loss of 9 yards that helped hold the Gators to zero net yards during the period, and forced a fumble on a sack in the fourth quarter. The 4 sacks ties for third place on the Bishop single-game list, and the shutout was the first for Ohio Wesleyan since Nov. 4, 2006.
