Ohio Wesleyan University sophomore Andrew Diehl (Marysville) was named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week in men's track & field for the week of Feb. 27, it was announced by the NCAC.
Diehl was named Men's Field Event Performer of the Week.
Diehl won the conference championship in the heptathlon with a total of 4465 points. He finished sixth in the 60-meter dash in :07.47, sixth in the long jump with a leap of 19-11, third in the shot put with a throw of 33-9¼, then finished Saturday's competition by clearing 6-2 in the high jump, tying for the best effort of the meet. On Sunday, he clocked a :09.25 in the 60-meter hurdles, tied for fifth in the pole vault by clearing 11-10¾, and finished sixth in the 1000-meter run in 2:53.25.
It was the second straight combined events championship for Diehl, who won the 2011 championship in the indoor pentathlon.
