Ohio Wesleyan University junior Nate Newman (Chillicothe/Zane Trace) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 6, it was announced by the NCAC.
Newman, a member of the Ohio Wesleyan men's track & field team, was named Men's Field Event Athlete of the Week.
Newman won the heptathlon at the All-Ohio combined events meet on Saturday and Sunday. He had the meet's best efforts in the long jump (20-6½), shot put (37-1¾), and high jump (6-2¼), the second-best performances in the 60-meter dash (:07.42), the 60-meter hurdles (:08.72) and the pole vault (12-11½), and finished fifth in the 1000-meter run (3:01.47).
