Ohio Wesleyan University senior Devin Van Winkle (Plain City/Jonathan Alder) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 3, it was announced by the NCAC.
Van Winkle, a first baseman on the Ohio Wesleyan baseball team, was named Baseball Player of the Week.
Van Winkle powered Ohio Wesleyan to a split of an NCAC West Division series at Wittenberg. In the opener on Saturday, he doubled home 2 runs to cap a 3-run rally that broke a 3-3 tie. In Saturday's nightcap, he smashed a 2-run homer to help the Bishops wipe out a 3-0 deficit. In the opener on Sunday, he doubled home 2 runs during a 4-run fifth inning that gave the Bishops a 6-0 lead. In Sunday's nightcap, he crushed a 3-run homer in the first inning and a 2-run shot in the third inning. In the 4-game series, he batted .368 (7-for-19) with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, 11 RBI, 5 runs scored, and a slugging percentage of .947.
