Ohio Wesleyan University senior Ben Rubel (Toledo/St. John's) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 9, it was announced by the NCAC.


Rubel, a strong safety on the Ohio Wesleyan football team, was named Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Rubel compiled 10 tackles and added a pass breakup to help Ohio Wesleyan to a 23-21 win at Kenyon on Saturday.  He helped stop a Kenyon ball carrier for no gain on a fourth-and-1 play at the Kenyon 15-yard line midway through the fourth quarter, giving the ball back to the Bishops and setting up the game-winning touchdown drive.  Rubel's 10 tackles shared the team lead.
