My goal is to make the best out of every situation and compete to win at every chance I get...

Meet the Bishops:  Get to know a little about Chase Patton of the Ohio Wesleyan women's track and field team.

Name:  Chase Patton

Class Year:  Junior

Majors:  Zoology and environmental studies

Minor:  Geography

How/Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
For the small school. I wanted to be more connected with my professors and be able to have that personal bond with them rather than just being a number at a bigger school.

How/Why did you choose your major?
I have always wanted to work with animals so I choose zoology to pursue that interest. I also added both a major and minor during my sophomore year. I added these because after taking classes in both of the departments, I found a deeper passion for the areas of study.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I wanted to run track at the DIII level because I knew that most people who play DIII sports truly love their sport and genuinely want to be there competing. I saw exactly that when I first saw OWU track and field compete and knew I wanted to be a part of that.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
Watching the 4x400-meter race at the end of the 2020 indoor conference championship. Watching my teammate cross the finish and everyone watching the time come up realizing that we had just won conference!

What are your strengths as an athlete (as an individual)?
As an athlete I am very determined to try and be the best at my event to better the team. Individual success is great, but if you can’t share it with the whole team it doesn’t feel as good.

What is your number one goal, personal or team, for this season?
My goal for myself is to make the best out of every situation and compete to win at every chance I get. My goal for the team is the same for this season.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
To be able to fly.

Where is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
Shorty’s and their turkey sub!

What is your spirit animal?
A honeybee.

What is your favorite stay-at-home activity?
Hanging with my family.
