Ohio Wesleyan University sophomore Calvin Cagney (Indialantic, Fla./Melbourne) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 22, it was announced by the NCAC.
Cagney was named Football Offensive Player of the Week.
Cagney, a tight end, caught touchdown passes of 5 and 40 yards as Ohio Wesleyan scored the final 17 points of the game to defeat Carnegie Mellon, 34-26, on Saturday. Cagney finished with 16 catches for 151 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 16 receptions tied the school record set by Jermar Rayford at Allegheny during the 2010 season. The win was the Bishops' seventh in as many outings this season, moving Ohio Wesleyan to 7-0 for the first time since 1992, and was Ohio Wesleyan's 10th straight win dating back to last season, the Bishops' longest winning streak since a 10-game skein bridging the 1991-92 seasons.
