Ohio Wesleyan University freshman Jessica Ward (Delaware/Home) has been named a North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 29, it was announced by the NCAC.
Ward was named Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Ward won 2 events -- setting school records in both -- and helped a relay team take another first-place finish as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Baldwin Wallace, 116-101, in a non-conference dual meet on Friday. Ward won the 100 butterfly in :59.24, breaking the school record of :59.36 set by Molly Kuhlman in 1991, and touched first in the 100 backstroke in :59.65, eclipsing the school record of 1:00.07 set by Laura Marean in 1997. She also swam on the Bishops' 200 medley relay team, which won in 1:52.24, finishing one-tenth of a second off the school record.
