...The importance of "family" was huge to the team and it really just stuck out to me.

Name:  Kaden Buza

Class year:  2024

Major:  Exercise science

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to come to Ohio Wesleyan because of the people here and their desire to see everyone succeed (and) because athletically, OWU has a lot of history and success with some good facilities for their student-athletes.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose exercise science as my major because all the way up until college I would get injured a lot and spent a decent amount of time doing physical therapy, getting x-rays, assessments, and MRIs.  I gained a lot of interest in this stuff and found myself really interested in physical therapy because of the hands-on approach and being able to help individuals firsthand.

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose to compete in sports here at OWU, specifically the football team, because of how close the coaches and players were.  The importance of "family" was huge to the team and it really just stuck out to me.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory is probably our homecoming game last year against Denison where we beat them, 41-7.  It was such a fun game and the whole team was making plays all over the field.

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
Before the game I walk the field and imagine making throws all over the field.  For every game I tape my wrists and write who means the most to me on them.

Why do you like your position?
I like playing the quarterback position because I'm in control of the game to a certain degree and it comes with a high level of pressure on my shoulders, which then takes some pressure off of everyone else, allowing them to play more freely.  I believe the position builds good life characteristics like decision-making skills, problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and teamwork skills.

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place to eat in Delaware is Amato's Wood Fired Pizza and my go-to is to build your own pizza with pepperoni, bacon, and sausage.  Victor's Taco Shop is high up there on my list as well.  Their breakfast burritos are very good.

Which reality show would you like to star on and why?
If I could be on a reality TV show it would either be Survivor or Impractical Jokers, to see how long I would last on Survivor and because I've watched Impractical Jokers for years and could definitely pull off some of the skits and jokes on there.

Which three people, living or dead, would you like to share a meal with?
Michael Jordan, my grandpa, and Elon Musk

What is your favorite place that you have traveled to as an OWU student-athlete?
My favorite place that I have traveled to as a OWU student-athlete was Spain.  Some of our football team went to Spain this past summer, played a game, and visited Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Valencia, and Peniscola.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
My advice to them would be to go with their gut and don't look back.  Not a lot of people get the chance to be a college student-athlete and you will connect with people that become your best friends and learn some valuable life skills.
