...Compared to other schools I visited, OWU was the [biggest] standout in their hospitality and feeling of community...

Name:  Gabe Fogle

Class year:  2027

Major:  Business administration

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I chose Ohio Wesleyan because the campus felt right the first moment I stepped on, and the community and students around me when I visited felt like something I wanted to be a part of.  Compared to other schools I visited, OWU was the [biggest] standout in their hospitality and feeling of community.

Why did you choose your major?
I chose my major because my dad helps to run and manage a major business in the US and he inspired me to follow his same path.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory on my OWU team is traveling down to Florida over spring break and bonding with all the people on the team, this made me feel truly more connected to everyone on a deeper level than what we had before.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
For pre-match rituals, I always listen to a specific playlist/songs before I get to the match whether it is home or away.  I always wear specific kinds of socks for match days and I won't wear any other kinds of socks besides those.

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of leading with the most doubles wins on the team last year, playing such tough teams in and out of conference.  I feel as though it was a big accomplishment to have that as an achievement.

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that?
To put myself in a position to achieve that I started weight training and focusing more on myself and my sport.  I also tried my best to focus on school to better myself in that aspect as well.

What is your favorite place to eat in Delaware, and what is your go-to dish there?
My favorite place in Delaware to eat is Amato's Woodfired Pizza, my favorite dish there is the pepperoni pizza.

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a student-athlete?
My advice to someone who is considering becoming a student-athlete is to go for it, without fail it was the best decision I made going into college.  The connections you create with your teammates will last for a very long time.  Whether we are practicing, playing, or even around campus, we always find a way to see each other and those are connections that mean the most.  Many of the seniors from last year still keep in touch with the team and still support us through our seasons, the connections you can make with your teammates will make you want to work harder for yourself and for them.

What is your favorite book and why?
I don't read much besides for school but my favorite book would have to be "The Giver."  This is my favorite book because the book shows how emotion affects us and our society, without our memory or emotions it is hard to feel true sadness, pain and joy.
