...After meeting with the coaches and my future teammates during campus visits, I knew this was the team I belonged on...

Name:  Kennedy Elfers

Class year:  2028

Major:  Health and human kinetics

Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
I love the community and I felt as if I belonged here before I even started classes.

Why did you choose your major?
Athletics are deeply ingrained in my life, and I have always been interested in health fields.  I wanted to follow a path that combined both, and HHK is perfect for that!

Why did you choose to compete in sports at Ohio Wesleyan?
Track & field is one of my passions.  After meeting with the coaches and my future teammates during campus visits, I knew this was the team I belonged on.  My teammates have the same passion for the sport, and the level of competition is perfect for me.

What is your favorite memory on an Ohio Wesleyan team?
My favorite memory so far is the various team bonding activities we did during winter break!

What athletic or academic achievement/accomplishment are you most proud of?
This year, my proudest athletic accomplishment was winning the 4x200 meter relay at conference!

What did you do to put yourself in position to achieve that?
I tend to get nervous before big meets such as conference, but I've learned a lot of skills this year to help me focus.  I trusted my training and thought about my similar past accomplishments, and I was able to enter the race with confidence.

Is there a specific coach or teammate who has helped you get where you are?
I give a lot of credit to my high school strength coach, Josh Lehman.  He inspired my love for the weight room and taught me discipline and routine.  He was always there to lend advice and taught me that one bad day won't equate to a bad season.  He made the weight room feel like a place I could express myself without judgment, and is a big reason I chose an athletics-related field in college.

If you could visit another time, when would it be and why?
I would go back to the late 1990s so I could see what things were like before smart phones.

What is your favorite movie character and why?
My favorite movie character is probably Iron Man.  I appreciate his quick wit and his need to help other people, even if he doesn't always do that in the best way.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Flight!  It just seems fun.
