Comeback Effort Earns Bishops a Split at Witt

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team hit the road on Saturday night as they continued conference play with a match at Wittenberg. The Battling Bishops would fall behind 2-0 after conceding a goal in each half but come roaring back to force a split, 2-2.

OWU moves to 3-4-6 and stays midtable in the NCAC with neither a win nor a loss at 0-0-2. Wittenberg moves to 6-1-4 overall, still top of the conference at 2-0-1.

Wittenberg opened the scoring extremely early, taking the opening kickoff straight to the goal for a 1-0 lead with just 16 ticking off the clock. The Tigers tallied another to open the second half, scoring in the 54th minute for a two-goal lead.

However, as they say, a two-goal lead is the most unsafe lead in soccer. The Bishops proved that statement right as they came roaring back to tie the game within six minutes. Paige Neal started it off with a goal in the 54th minute to cut the deficit down to one, which Tiffany Trihn then erased with a 58th-minute equalizer. 2-2 is how the score would stay once the 90 minutes were up.

THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan faced an onslaught of shots in the first half, being outshot 12-2 in the first 45. The second half was dead even at eight apiece, leaving OWU with 10 shots (six on goal) and Wittenberg with 20 (13 on goal).

Paige Neal scored her second goal of the season. She took two shots, putting both on target. Neal now has four points on the year.

Tiffany Trinh tallied her first goal of the season, now with five total points. She put her only attempt in the back of the net.

Others taking scoring chances were Ava Kolettis (1 SH, 1 SOG), Jordyn Adams (1 SH, 1 SOG), Ava Bruns (1 SH, 1 SOG), Kaia Vorenkamp (2 SH), Jazlyn Brooker (1 SH), and Halle Dacek (1 SH).

Natalie Ryan (3-4-6) got the start and played the full 90 minutes, making nine saves for her second-highest save-total of the season.
