CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's soccer team continued conference play Wednesday, as they traveled to Wabash looking to get back in the win column. The Battling Bishops did just that, as
Matt Boyd found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to break a 1–1 tie and lift OWU past Wabash, 2–1.
OWU moves to 6-3-4 on the season, with a 2-1 record in the NCAC. Wabash falls to 5-9, and 1-3 in conference.
The Bishops got on the board first in the 19th minute, as
Alex Bucher sent a pass to
Callum Wiggins, who buried the ball, giving the Red and Black an early lead. Wabash was quick to respond, as just 15 minutes later they evened the contest via a free kick.
Both sides remained deadlocked at 1 for much of the match until
Matt Boyd received a ball from
Rowan Kriebel and broke the tie in the 83rd minute, which would ultimately be the game-winner. The late Bishop lead proved insurmountable for Wabash, as the Little Giants were unable to respond, sealing a 2–1 final.
