DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer team opened up their conference schedule on Saturday night, hosting Denison at
Jay Martin Soccer Complex.
OWU moves to 3-4-5 and starts their NCAC slate 0-0-1. Denison is now 5-3-3, also 0-0-1 in conference play.
The Battling Bishops got on the board early as
Ava Bruns found
Jordyn Adams open on the back post in the second minute. Adams easily slotted away the ball on the volley for the 1-0 lead. OWU would hold that lead for 72 minutes, taking it well into the second half before Denison equalized in the 74th minute. Shortly after that, the two sides reached a stalemate, finishing with a 1-1 final.
THE NUMBERS
Ohio Wesleyan was outpaced on offense, taking seven shots in comparison to Denison's 13. However, the Bishops were slightly more efficient, putting 57% of their shots on goal as opposed to 53% from the Big Red.
Jordyn Adams scored her first goal of the season and 11th of her career, now with two points on the year. She led the team with three shots, putting two on target.
Ava Bruns recorded her second assist of the season, tallying eight total points thus far.
Tiffany Trinh took two shots, putting both on net.
Avery Curtin and
Halle Dacek took the remaining two attempts.
Natalie Ryan (3-4-5) played the full 90 minutes in net. She made six saves.
