FINDLAY, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's track and field team opened their season on Friday night, competing in the Oiler Open hosted by the University of Findlay. That Battling Bishops put up 69 points through the night, finishing second in the eight-team field. The Red and Black recorded 32 points in jumps, 22 in sprints, eight in hurdles, and seven in distance.
JUMPS (32 POINTS)
Connor Smith secured eight points for OWU in the high jump, finishing second with a mark of 2.05 meters.
Tanner Sir Louis tallied four points for the Bishops with a fifth place finish in the pole vault, turning in a mark of 4.12 meters.
Ryan Tripp and
Constant Hahirwa combined for 10 points in the long jump. Tripp scored eight points with a second place mark of 6.61 meters. Hahirwa was seventh with a mark of 5.27 meters for two points.
Chinedu Melenu picked up 10 points with a win in the triple jump, dropping a mark of 13.20 meters.
SPRINTS (22 POINTS)
Joel Adade and
Michael Strange scored nine points in the 60-meter dash. Adede finished third with a time of 7.05 seconds for six points. Strange finished sixth with a time of 7.24 for three points.
Ryan Tripp tallied eight points with a second place finish at 50.74 in the 400-meter dash.
Connor Smith and Adade were the Bishop placers in the 200-meter dash. Smith scored four points with a fifth place finish and a time of 22.95. Adade ended in eighth place with a time of 23.09.
HURDLES (8 POINTS)
Dylan Harper and
Michael Hess combined for eight points in the 60-meter hurdles. Harper recorded five points with a fourth place finish at 8.76. Hess secured sixth with a 8.83 for three points.
DISTANCE (7 POINTS)
Jayson Dyer and Davion Moore finished fifth and sixth in the 800-meter run. Dyer ran a 2:06.53 for four points. Moore recorded a time of 2:08.55 for three points.

The Bishops will be back in action after the new year, hosting the OWU Alumni Meet on January 10th at the newly renovated Gordon Field House.
