Women’s Cross Country Wins Port Kenyon Opener; Men Finish Fourth

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University cross country team had their first races of the season on Friday night as both sides took part in the Port Kenyon Opener. The women would win their five-team field, putting five finishers in the top seven for a team score of 24. The men finished fourth in their four-team field with a team score of 104.

WOMEN (4K)
OWU's winning performance was led by Sophie Cotts who finished second overall with a time of 14:20.6. The four remaining scorers would finish one after another from fourth to seventh place to complete the team score of 24. Zoe Ward finished fourth with a 14:25.9 Brianna Montgomery got fifth at 14:43.3. Allison Dietz came in sixth with a 14:52.0. McKenna Downing rounded out the Bishops' top five at seventh with a time of 14:58.6.

MEN (6K)
The Ohio Wesleyan men were led by Jacob Blubaugh who scored 10, finishing 11th overall with a time of 20:14.1. Lucas Weaver and Austin Kling would come in next, scoring 21 and 22 with finishes of 32nd and 33rd, putting up times of 21:18.2 and 21:21.6. Perry Jackson scored 25, finishing 40th with a time of 21:51.2. Xavier Platt completed the team score of 104 with a 26, finishing 47th at 22:01.3.

UP NEXT
The Bishops will be back in action on Friday, September 19th at the All-Ohio Classic hosted by Cedarville. The women's race will get underway at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men's race at 6:40 p.m.
