Bishops Hold No. 11 Ohio Northern to Draw

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University played host to the No. 11 team in the country Ohio Northern on Wednesday night. It was a brutal battle that stayed scoreless in the first half. An exciting second half was highlighted by both teams finding the back of the net in the 74th minute, ultimately leading to a 1-1 tie.

With the result, the Battling Bishops move to 1-2-3 on the season. Ohio Northern is now 4-0-2.

It was a very physical game that included a combined 35 fouls, 16 of those coming in the scoreless first half. In the second half, the teams would continue to trade blows on the field but not on the scoresheet. That was until the 74th minute when an Ohio Northern attacker found himself unmarked on the backside of the box after controlling the rebound of a contested header, giving ONU a one-goal lead.

It did not take long for OWU to retaliate – 39 seconds in fact. Following the ensuing kickoff, Sam Robledo received a throw in which he took down the sideline before sending a beauty of a long ball into the box. Rowan Kriebel would be on the receiving end, skying high to head the ball towards goal and out of the reach of Ohio Northern's diving goalkeeper to tie the game up at one apiece.

Despite the best efforts of both sides, neither team could get ahead, leading to a 1-1 final.
