BEREA, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University men's tennis team opened up their fall schedule on Saturday morning, traveling to face Baldwin Wallace. The Battling Bishops got ahead early by taking 2-of-3 in doubles, followed by 4-of-6 in singles for the 5-2 match victory.
It was head coach
Adrian Tolentino's first win leading the OWU program. The Bishops move to 1-0 on the new season and hand Baldwin Wallace their first loss of the year, now 2-1.
DOUBLES
OWU took an early 1-0 lead, taking 2-of-3 the doubles matches.
First,
Ian Tsai and
Marcus Bode boded well in a 6-1 result in match two.
Gabe Fogle and
Rainer Holl followed with a tiebreak win in match one, 7-6 (7-5).
Kobe Francis and
Jared Crawford found themselves on the wrong side of a 6-4 result in match three.
SINGLES
The Red and Black kept on rolling into singles, scoring wins in matches one, two, five, and six.
Ian Tsai took match one 6-1, 6-1.
Gabe Fogle was victorious in match two 2-6, 6-1, 6-4. Zach Hiester tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win in match five. And
Marcus Bode defeated his opponent 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 in match six.
Kobe Francis suffered a 1-6, 4-6 loss in match three. Rainer Hall took a set but ultimately lost match four 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.
