Bishops Come Up Short on Senior Day

DELAWARE, Ohio – The Ohio Wesleyan University women's soccer celebrated senior day on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Hope, honoring seniors Katie Adams, Jazlyn Brooker, Avery Curtin, Paige Neal, Tiffany Trinh, Natalie Ryan, Mackenzie Smith, Halle Dacek, Athena Kolettis, Emma Schaefer, Izzy Trahey-Matzen, Ava Bruns in a pregame ceremony. The Battling Bishops faced a 2-0 deficit entering the final 10 minutes, getting one back in the 84th minute but ultimately coming up short, 2-1.

The Bishops slip to 3-4-4, while Hope moves to 5-2-2.

Hope opened the scoring early with a goal in the eighth minute that would eventually lead to a 1-0 game at the half. The Flying Dutch added another to start the second half and take a 2-0 lead. With time winding down, the Red and Black would get one back in the 84th minute when Brooker scored a screaming header, served into the box by Bailey Hawkins from a free kick. Unfortunately, it was too-little-too-late for OWU as the time ticked down to a 2-1 final.
